Monthly Beauty Favs

I have been a fan of Lush Cosmetics for a few years now and I cannot get enough of it. I have always had dry skin, but cold Calgary winters and dry summers have only deepened my skin’s thirst for moisture. So, my quest to find a deep intensive skin moisturizer and cleanser led me to Lush Cosmetics. It has been the best decision I have ever made for my skin care regiment.  Lush Cosmetics’ Skin Drink moisturizer and Ultrabland cleanser are the first skin products I have used since living in Calgary that do not dry out my skin in minutes. The prices for Skin Drink and Ultrabland are a little steep, but I only have to purchase them every 2 months and are now staples in my skin care routine.

I prescribed to all natural facial and body products due to the overwhelming amount of mineral oils, paraffin, petroleum and parabens that are in brand name skin care lines. These common cosmetic ingredients cause major health risks and have been linked to breast cancer, allergies and irritation of skin, eyes and lungs. The beauty of Lush (pun intended), is that their core values are to create “fresh” and “handmade” products. So, not only are Lush products (a Vancouver based company) all natural, but they have a picture on the back of the person who made your product. Sylvie made mine! Thanks Girl!

“Skin Drink”- $23.95
My dry skin problem leaves my skin feeling very tight around my forehead, eyes and mouth. Skin Drink is Lush’s best selling product to remedy server dry skin and leaves my skin feeling hydrated and moisturised. Key ingredients in this product include fresh avocado, sesame oil and calming aloe vera extracts. Dry skin is a year round problem for me, but for those of you who only suffer from dry skin in the winter, I highly recommend Skin Drink in your winter skin care routine.

 “Ultrabland”- $29.95
This is Lush’s  best selling cleanser that contains bee’s wax to strip away make-up and dirt. Other ingredients include almond oil for hydration, rose water to calm and soothe the skin and honey as a natural antiseptic. I like Ultrabland because it is a thick but gentle cleanser that turns into an oil like texture once applied to the face. It only requires a minimal amount on your fingertips and wipe away with wet cotton balls or a warm face cloth. It leaves my skin feeling soft, clean and moisturized. There is no substitute to how quenched my skin feels.

“Dirty Soap”- $7.95 (100g)
This is a bonus shout out to my latest obsession from Lush, Dirty soap! I buy it for my boyfriend and I think I use it more than he does now. It is in the Dirty Fragrance range for men and has a herbal and spearmint fragrance that is also perfect for sharing. It is not called the wake-me-up bar of soap for nothing! It is a great way to start the day. A must try!
