This is my first blog post of the year and the first blog
post in almost a year! So this post is way overdue, like wayyyyy!!! I took a blogging hiatus that left me really
missing my blog. I did not realize then how much this blog meant to me and how much it was a necessary expression of who I am and the women I am becoming. I have to thank those who have been asking me for new posts
and encouraging me to continue my journey. It is through your encouragement I
dedicate my first post of 2015!
Well,
life called and my attention was being pulled in so many directions that I lost
focus and blogging became secondary to personal, financial and career
priorities. Blogging is fun and challenging
but it requires evolution, updating your wheelhouse and asking for help when you
have hit that roadblock. Asking for help and letting yourself be vulnerable is
not easy, but when you get that helping hand, you know it is the best decision
you ever made.
Last year I posted a Kijiji ad for a photographer to collaborate with and it was the best thing I ever did. In walked the talented Lena Bell of
LB & Co Photography, an amazing photographer, blogger and now friend!
What I have learnt during my break?
- I have been updating my blogging skills, taking Skillshare online workshops on
photography, social media and blogging.
I love Skillshare workshops and all things personal development. I will
be sharing more personal development
posts in future.
- I read cover to cover the holy grail of blogging “A
Beautiful Mess” Blog Life e-course ( I highly recommend it to revamp or re-energize your blog)
- I have been preparing for my first half marathon!
I will be adding this to my blog in my fitness series and hope to share my
journey from a cardio runner to an aspiring half-marathon runner. I will be running the Calgary Half-Marathon on May 31st . I cannot wait to write that blog post!
- I am currently a part-time student and completing my Event
Management Certificate this year. Being type A, I have loved the planning and logistical side
of events and design on the blog and at work. So taking this course was a no-brainer. The blog will have more events
and entertaining posts focusing on bespoke events, dinner parties and celebration.
- I have very interesting and talented friends
that give me so much life! The Bougie Life was never meant to be just about my
life, but share a beautiful life that all women can aspire to have! My friends are inspirations
to me and I hope they will let my blog be a medium for their own
self-expression. I will be asking for
blog favors and future post collaborations. I did not want to name names, but I
will.... hint, hint, Zandi, Eleni, Amanda, Mo, Lisa, Lena,
Jill and Janelle.
It
is so good to be back. I cannot wait to see what this year has in store!
While I was away I been obsessed with
Corbeaux Bakerhouse on 17th Ave SW Calgary.
